Kids grow up so fast that sometimes I think I am feeding my own steroids. So when Anthony originally approached me with starting Highschoolstreams.com, I personally identified with the need for a live stream service of its capacity.
Obviously, I want to put my family first, but as both a small business owner and mom to three active boys, there are times I have to work late, travel out of state, or simply shuttle one son to basketball practice while the other has piano. So I truly know that finding a daily balance is a familiar battle most parents or guardians face. Although, logically, I know I am only one person that does not dissipate the frantic feeling I am going to miss a defining moment in one of my kids’ lives one of these days.
No parent should experience that emotion – especially today’s technology. However, what really resonated with me with Anthony’s idea was that high school students would be the ones providing the live streaming services. Coming up a woman in the communications industry, I understand how vital gaining that “real-life” experience and career ‘readiness’ truly is.
At the time, a student-run live stream was unheard of and that is what truly makes Highschoolstreams.com unique from other live streaming services. The students are the announcers, producers, and camerapersons creating the content for our site. This is the program’s fundamental core and my favorite part is seeing how each student from his or hers respective high school flourishes and grows under the program. So with Highschoolstreams.com, not only are you gaining lifelong access to a precious memory when you watch a game live or order a band concert after the fact for a keepsake, but you are truly supporting your local schools and the dreams of its students.
Because at the end of the day, as a parent, guardian, educator, or councilor, isn’t all of our goalsour students’ success ? Here at Highschoolstreams.com, we want want all of our students to graduate college, land scholarships and internships, and seamlessly transition into his or hers future career and the real world post-graduation. And if Highschoolstreams.com can have positive results in any those steps, then my mission was successful.
